Le’Veon Bell KO’d Adrian Peterson with a brutal right hand in the fifth round Saturday night. Two former star NFL running backs are trading cleats for gloves in an exhibition boxing match. He would be able to handle some of the goal-line touches to start the season, spelling Barkley after long drives. He would also be a great help to Saquon Barkley during his first season back from a torn ACL. Adding a veteran like Peterson would give them a different look in the backfield, one that they might not have otherwise considered without his experience.

The Buccaneers have some talented young running backs on the roster, including Ronald Jones II. He is 180 yards away from reaching that mark and would provide a solid veteran presence in the backfield for a cheap price. Peterson has a chance to become the fifth player in NFL history to rush for 15,000 yards this year, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be a good fit for him. He spent time with the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks last season, accumulating 106 yards from scrimmage on 42 touches. In his 14th season in the NFL, Adrian Peterson is currently a free agent.
